Chinese Zodiac Symbols
Chinese zodiac symbols, also called Chinese horoscope symbols or Chinese astrology symbols, represent the Chinese zodiac. Unlike western astrology, which is based on the 12 months of the year, the Chinese zodiac is based on a 12 year lunar cycle.
12 Animal Signs of the Chinese Zodiac
Old Chinese legend states that the Lord Buddha summoned all the animals for a celebration before he left the earth for the heavens, but for reasons unknown, only 12 showed up (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig). Buddha was grateful that these 12 animals could attend, and as such, assigned the name of each animal to the 12 year calendar cycle.
Chinese astrology is believed to tell a person’s fortune in life. Your zodiac animal sign can tell you about your personality, compatibility with other signs, and more.
